The Departure

The Departure was an English Rock band formed in 2004. The band was  contracted by Parlophone Records. After playing three gigs and together for just four months they were signed by the company. They released their first album titled "Dirty Words" and the album was released in the year 2005. They were planning to launch their second album in that year only but the band splitted in the January, 2008.
The members of band were
David Jones -who specializes vocals, Sam Harvey lead the guitar, Ben Winton - played the bass guitar, Simon Alexander played drums and Tom Gormley was on roadie.

There was one novel by Janet Stevenson which was also titled "Departure". It was an unusual and compelling novel. This novel was beautifully crafted around the tale of adventure. It also presented the psychological drama of self-discovery of the protagonist. The story of the novel is set up in 1851. Amanda Bright sails from Boston with her husband, Jonathan who was also the captain of the merchant ship Maria M. On the leg from Hawaii to North America Jonathan is struck by various disease, leaving him and the first mate of the ship down with the severe fever. After which a storm sweeps the last officer and lone sailor overboard. This leaves Amanda only and she didn't had even a minor understanding of navigating the ship. The situation becomes such that she must learn fast if she is to avoid disaster.  There is mutiny by a crew that is superstitious of a woman aboard following the landfall. Jonathan recovers in the mean time but feels threatened by her growing independence thus leaving their marriage cling. Amanda, Jonathan, and the crew are thrown against each other and the treacherous circumstances which is beautifully contained in this suspenseful and a psychological drama.

There was also one song which went on to become a big hit titled "Departure Plan". The lyrics goes like this:--

You're taking care of your instincts

No matter what you do

Your life could be so much better when everything is through

The demons that refused to let you go

They left with empty hands

You got to give it a try

Dont put an end to your life

Cause thats where you choke your last sigh

Chorus:

You gotta rise with me!

Cause youre so vulnerable... me!

No need for sympathy now...

Yet so admirable... say...

Your passion for art is your well hidden cure

Cause thats where you have a plan

Escaping could be such a movement now

In your fragile heart all so true

... you'll never ever hurt yourself again!
